Dialectical behavior therapy (dbt)
DBT was developed to treat individuals who struggle with chronic suicidality. In addition, research has shown that it is effective in treating a wide range of other disorders such as substance dependence, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and eating disorders.
Radically open dialectical behavior therapy (ro-dbt)
Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy, RO-DBT, is a new evidenced based treatment targeting a spectrum of disorders characterized by excessive self-control, often referred to as overcontrol (OC). Self-control’ is usually seen as a good thing, however too much self-control can cause difficulties.
Over- control is seen as a problem of emotional loneliness - not necessarily lacking contact with others, but lack of social connectedness with others Supported by 20 years of research, RODBT has been helpful with social anxiety, chronic depression, disordered eating patterns, compulsive behaviors, and experiences of loneliness.
